Google, a company that has circumvented U.S. tax laws to avoid paying $60 billion in taxes on its foreign profits, has gained from its close association with the Obama administration.
Politico has reported that the Obama 2012 campaign has been given an exclusive advertising opportunity -- one that no other Presidential candidate has received –- for a "pre-alpha product," an online advertising program that collects user data and e-mail addresses for the Obama campaign.
The Obama administration is not being transparent, and it, too, is being rewarded for its close ties to Google. Not only did Google employees donate more than $800,000 to Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, but a consumer watchdog report has raised concerns about Google's privileged access to NASA's Moffett Airfield, which is conveniently located near Google's headquarters in California. The report says the airport "has been turned into a taxpayer-subsidized private airport for Google executives, used for corporate junkets."
Google was also never investigated for the discovery that their Street Cars downloaded personal data from open wireless networks across the nation. The American people deserve to know exactly what information was gathered, for what purpose, and what happened to it. This issue deserves a full Congressional investigation and hearing, not just an "apology" from Google and conveniently buried by the Obama administration.
The administration's relationship with Google needs to be brought to light and the American people need to know what policy decisions are being made based on this relationship.
While we are willing to operate by faith over experience for a while, we are not fools. We wish for a peaceful return to organic constitutional principles, wherein our elected representatives honor their oaths of office and act in the best interests of their constituents, not for political expediency or garnering votes to ensure re-election.
This needs to happen sooner, rather than later.
Thank you for considering my views, and your faithfulness to act responsibly on this and other congressional legislation.
Your attention and cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
Respectfully,
Robert William Butler Jr
